Step 1. Find the serial number or model number. This information is at the bottom of the laptop. You will need this information if a call to support is required, or if you have to order parts.

Step 2. Push the power cord to see if the laptop can be powered on using only the battery. If the laptop does not power on, the battery may be dead.


Step 3. Plug the power cord into the computer and an electrical outlet. Be sure that there is the power to the outlet. Try to turn on the computer.

Step 4. Check computer turns on and see the desktop screen. If no power in the computer.  The power supply may need to be reinstated. The power light will go on and desktop should look on the screen. The screen does not turn on, but the power to the computer, the issue is with the screen, operating system or hard drive.

Step 5. Review for the issue with the drive (or fixed disc). Try bootable recovery disc into the CD drive. Restart the PC. Computer boots and the screen appears to work, then the hard drive is corrupted or problem with the operating system. Reinstall operating system with the backup. IF it is not done, replace the hard drive.

Step 6. Decide whether the PC can interface with the Internet. then try to connect to the Internet. If this is broken, do sure that there are no outages with your Internet service provider. then check modem and router is working properly. Finally, Try to connect your computer through wired. the wireless card in the laptop needs to change.

Step 7. Try to put a disk into the disk drive. If the drive will not work, try reinstalling the drivers. After this, if the drive will not operate, replace it.
